Please be patient as I update the site to reflect the many changes I have been making behind the scenes, as well as in my life. Most of my old content is still available, and new content has been added. As of the time of this update (Dec 7th, 2025) all of the dogs listed are current and up to date. While I still have some updating to do in the bred by category, the majority of the work is finally done.
Coming soon:
*"About Me" page will be updated
*All past litters will be listed with updated titles
*Bred-by page will be updated
*A new category for co-owned dogs will be created
*Individual pages for co-owned dogs that are actively working, competing and/or titling in any venue
*Updates to the retired page
*Updates to the rainbow bridge page
Thank you so much for your continued support during this construction phase! It is a huge undertaking to keep up with all of the updates, especially in the midst of major life changes, and I appreciate all of the patience and grace every one of you have extended my way when I have fallen short of your (and my own) expectations. If there are any questions or suggestions about the content or design, please feel free to reach out! I always love hearing ideas and constructive feedback!

"The Australian Shepherd is primarily a working dog of strong herding and guardian instincts. He is an intelligent, exceptional companion. He is versatile and easily trained: performing his assigned tasks with great style and enthusiasm. He is reserved with strangers but does not exhibit shyness."

Gemfire Kennels & Australian Shepherds is dedicated to preserving, protecting and promoting the Australian Shepherd as a versatile dog of both sound mind and body.
I breed as close to the ASCA and AKC breed standards as possible, and I strive with every litter to preserve the breed, while producing fantastic family companions that can do anything asked of them. I am a breeder dedicated to building a strong program of correct dogs that meet my best interpretation of the standards as I have been taught them by my mentors. My goal is to preserve the Australian Shepherd as it was meant to be for many generations to come: a truly versatile dog, that can work all day in any capacity asked of it and sleep on your bed at night. My dogs are my family pets, and are raised and live in my home. I expect the puppies that I produce to go to other families where they are also well loved pets, above and beyond any other jobs they may perform.
My passion for and love of the Australian Shepherd is matched only by their enthusiasm, joy and love of life - and of course, their love of me! There is nothing greater or more pure than to have the love of a dog, and I count myself blessed that I have such wonderful companions in my life. I couldn't imagine it any other way! Thank you for visiting, and taking the time to get to know us!
